About CSI Certification

CSI professional credentials are recognized throughout the industry as evidence of a proven level of education, knowledge and experience in construction documents. CSI Certification is a benchmark of technical knowledge.

These credentials demonstrate professional commitment, credibility and reliability to employers, colleagues and clients. The more you understand a non-residential building project’s written documents, the better job you can do concerning that project – regardless of which construction discipline you’re in.

When you earn a CSI certification you’ll know how the documents work.

Types of CSI Certifications:

The Construction Documents Technologist (CDT) Program acknowledges those who have demonstrated their knowledge of construction documents’ fundamentals and formats. The CDT certificate is the prerequisite for CSI’s three advanced certifications (see below).

The Certified Construction Specifier (CCS) Program recognizes people who have the experience and demonstrate the knowledge and skill in preparing written construction documents.

The Certified Construction Product Representative (CCPR) Program affirms a product representative’s ability to use construction documents and his or her understanding of the building design and construction process. They’re the keys to getting the right construction products specified.

The Certified Construction Contract Administrator (CCCA) Program recognizes practitioners who’ve demonstrated excellence in administering all phases of construction contracts.

How do I become Certified?

Each certification designation requires the successful completion of a comprehensive multiple choice examination based on a core body of knowledge drawn from the guides below as well as other source materials.

• The new Project Delivery Practice Guide (CDT)
• The new Construction Specifications Practice Guide (CCS)
• The new Project Representative Practice Guide (CCPR)
